I opened up my coolers of live rock after the move yesterday (bought a new tank) and found all of these bugs/larvae floating at the top. They are alive and moving. What are they? They do not look like copepods to me

How long were the rocks in the cooler? Could they be something non-saltwater related? We're the lids open outside?

Looks like a bunch of tube worms collected together.

The rocks were only in the cooler over night. Left inside with the lids closed, so it definitely came out of the live rock. The guy I got the tank from told my boyfriend that he grew copepods and other stuff/bugs in the fuge for his fish. Could this be some kind of food?

They have little tiny legs on them (almost like a copepod but smaller and they do not move like one) My biggest concern is ich but I don't now a lot about it, can you actually see the parasite like this? sorry if that is a dumb question

No, thats not Ich, you would'nt be able to see th eggs.

I will try to get better picture is afternoon. The camera on my phone really isn't the best.

Do tubeworms have little legs though?

If they are floating at the top, they could be anthropods stuck to film layer at the surface.

Hmm I didn't think about Mysis...I've only ever fed frozen so have never seen them alive. I e-mailed the guy I bought the tank from yesterday and he said he bred a lot of different pods in the refugium ....he wasn't specific though. I only know of copepods and amphipods ...what else is there? sorry I couldn't get a better picture yesterday, everything was blurry
