What are the little (about a quarter inch) pointy creatures that grow all over everything....pipes, rock, snails and shells. They have a long string from the top of them, making like a spider web string. I know they are very common, but they are getting to be something I would like to decrease.

Does anyone know how to decrease their numbers?

Thanks for your time
Mark

not sure of way to post photo? ....do you see it?

are you saying the way to get rid of these are manual removal? I have thousands of them all over the tank.

I do. didnt need it.
Yea usually in smaller outbreaks is manual removal or putty.
in larger numbers it means a big scrub and dip.

So, are they a type of snail then? They don't move, I thought they were more like some type of worm? Kinda like a feather duster.

Check out the lionfishlair hitchhiker link. We call em snot worms. usually they spit out a snot string to eat. a feather duster will have feathers. Looks like a snot worm to me.

Yep....snot worm is a good description of it....and why I want to decrease them in my tank.

Thanks again,
Mark
