What are these?

My rocks started to get these brown, sometimes purple, looking "potato eyes" growing from them. They are about 1cm long. Here's an example of 3 of them.

Are they bad? First time learning about them.

They can produce a slime covering that can irritate corals. Most put coral glue in the opening to seal it shut.
