I'm processing some dry rock that has these here and there. A couple snapped off. What are they? Might be cool to get some live ones in my tank.

I have the same exact things on my rock and they stayed the same after a few months in my tank so I'm curious as to what they are too

The one on the right looks like a Cheeto. But yea I’d go with sponges for $500

Most likely foramiferan skeletons.
I’ve seen some live in members tanks. But the consensus generally is they don’t survive well in most cases as they are filter feeders.
Far and above plankton , they need specific mineral bacteria and such that we just can’t provide.

Sorry can’t find a scientific article , there’s a link to one by Dr Shimek in the link.

Ah that's too bad. They have such great color.

They are pretty darned cool.

There’s a few interesting articles on them. How most of the reddish or pink tinge in beaches is not silicate or aragonite. But the mixture of the forams skeletons , they exist in that high a population in some places.
