Who knows I never check ….so these things are bad huh? How do I kill them they look like something out of a horror movie

Sponges usually just scrape off if dont want them .I've had few different kinds and mainly left them to do there thing but have removed a few that started choking some zoas.

@vetteguy53081 what you think of these ? Just scrape them off the rock ,remove rock from tank if you can to make easier ?

Edit : imo its good habit to regulary check the main things .

Until tank matures and get a grip of what it's doing .
But not sure how old your tank is and if you at that stage where can see what's happening with your tank with how it and the livestock behave ls

Thanks Noo I’m kidding I check once a month usually same results it’s my 2nd tank brand new going on 6 months now …I overfed a lot these 2 months to get my tang over the ich /vevelt stage now she’s cured I’ll stop feeding as much maybe that’ll help? I notice your right these scary looking knife things only are in the shade

So usually what your saying is if these show up I got a nitrate problem right? I’ll check Sunday but I wouldn’t doubt it…all lps coral so I do like my tank alil dirty:) sounds weird but I think they grow better that way up to a certain point then they die lol

Ummm all I know is alot sponges prefer the shade/ dark under rocks or corals or inbetween and some can choke corals when growing inbetween and ive no personal experience with this but read if get a sudden surge of sponges growing in tank then check your silicates and check your rodi filters to see if need changing ,as I say no personal experience on this so you will need research which filters on rodi to check if that's what you want to do as only spouting out what I've read ^_^

And sponges can often just be scraped / peeled off depending which type sponge you got that is hopefully vetteguy will chime in as very knowledgeable around allt reef related stuff and maybe give you a name of sponge and if known to be troublesome and removal method if needed .
Good luck and hope you keep enjoying your tank ^_^

Its bacterial fungi and Cryptic sponge
Sponge will peel off easily, however the fungi may have to be scrubbed off with a firm toothbrush
