I noticed 5 or 6 of these things in my tank recently. They are slowly growing in size. Just wondered what they could be?

Thanks!

Some say they will eat coral others say they won't. Seems to be many different species listed as asterina. They are also prolific breeders by severing arms

Some say they are pests, some say they are part of CUC. They don't get big but can reach plague proportions if they like the conditions in your tank.

A high reproducing star that stay tiny but multiply like mice by breaking off a leg and producing a new one and some as in my case can get to size of a nickel. I have none and have been at peace. Both break a leg and so forth and get high in numbers ending up in plumbing and sump and eating zoa coral. Theyre npt worth it

#ModSquad Asterina’s are a fairly common ID request on R2R. It would be nice to have a sticky thread that we can refer folks to for detailed information. Is there one that exists already?
