What are you feeding your SPS?

The instructions on Reef Energy do say daily but I'm going with every other day, feeding mysis in between days.

Fish poop for me....and I also have had success with the Reef Nutrition products.

I broadcast rods food once a week at night (fine particulate from it), half dose of fuel and fish poo. Works.

When feeding corals the trick is not to overfeed. Watching p04 and n03 closely.

Give some details on your system and when exactly you are doing. It would help as I take it you want to document and discuss the pros and cons of adding foods to specifically feed corals.

I feed my fish so they poo to feed coral and i dose kz xtra every now and then to give corals extra vitamins and minerals!

My first proper reef tank (mid 2000s) was a skimmer less mixed reef (very low budget) and I never used any coral foods. I contribute my success to a well maintained 6" DSB in the display, a light bioload and very light feeding 2x a week. I think a large bare minimum fuge with LR to grow zooplankton was key. I only kept smaller fish, such as the smallest shrimp gobies, wrasses, blenny, etc. The largest fish was a pearly jawfish. I did however dose phyto as i relied on zooplankton for feeding most of my tank. This was a very fun low maintenance tank and I made more money selling frags and bubble tip anemones on Craigslist than it cost me to run and set it up. In fact when I dismantled the tank to move back to Europe after school I made a nice chunk of profit that financed my move. Most my SPS were of the easier variety though monties, pocillopora etc.
