What are you guys using your dosers for?

Just ordered a doser, very excited about it. Will have two spare heads, wondering what you guys use yours for? I'm thinking possibly food, no idea what kind or how exactly that would work.

Most are probably dosing Alkalinity and Calcium (2 dosers), and maybe a carbon source like vodka or vinegar. Food wouldn't be practical because it would have to be wet and it would spoil quickly.

Yup, cal alk and one open for Vinegar... On a 4 stage Id add Mag and leave one for vinegar.
every one I've spoken to on food reports that it is indeed a process to clean it.

Right we'll definitely alk and cal, and possibly mag I guess. I haven't dosed magnesium yet. How often would you dose that? Like a very small amount each day?

No it's perfectly fine for dosing. My corals really love it too. I used to forget and only dose once in a while. I have 3 running systems in my house so forgetting comes easy [emoji12] My doser fixed that and my corals thank me for it lol

Why nopox, keep your NO3 down?

For now. I never had an no.3 problem until I messed up with the stump remover. So until I get that back in line I will be dosing it

I can barely wash acropower out of the baster that I use and I'm sure it would settle out in the resevoir and spoil within 24 hours.

Hmmm. I drilled a .25" hole in the cap and put the tube in the bottle that way. I don't add it to a reservoir. It seems fine.

Here's the thing, if you do decide to dose NOPOx do like Jackie did for her Acropower container and drill a hole in the lid and insert ridgid airline tubing then use it as it's own dosing container. It's methanol and if you dump it into an acrylic dosing container it will cause the container to become cloudy white or pop it (I saw a thread recently where this happened).

I wish I had 2 more channels, I would add KNO3 and NeoPhos

I will also do the same for the rs coral colors when I get a slave. For 1 thing I think it's space saving, and keeps air out as well as keeps evaporation from occurring.

I need to build a dedicated dosing cabinet, add more channels and some larger containers and then I'll officially be a skimmer cup washer/filter sock changer. I don't test my alkalinity manually anymore or do waterchanges manually anymore. Not much left to do. I guess I could sit down and look at the tank Lol
