Anything at local store that can increase nitrates effectively? I’ve read stump remover but I could never dose a brand that makes weed killer into my tank.

I've been using stump remover for over a year now with no issues, although I don't have to add much to my tank. I'm considering changing it out and just buying reagent grade potassium nitrate from amazon because it does make me a little uneasy using stump remover.

Depends on what size tank you have and how many corals you have. Personally when I want to raise my nutrients in our reef systems all start by increasing my amino acid dosage and then increase my feeding of powdered foods like reef roids and then as a final option I will use a nitrate supplement like Siberwulf. I have heard and seen the best results with Neo Nitrate but I’m sure all the nitrate supplements are relatively similar.

Feed your fish more.

What do you want to achieve by raising your nitrate level? If you think that you are going to get more nitrogen to the corals, then think again. If you want to poison dinos or cyano, then that could work. If you want macroalgae to grow, then they can use nitrate directly.

Your corals will get more nitrogen out of ammonia/ammonium than out of nitrate, so feed more and don't worry about your nitrate, unless it gets high.

Sodium nitrate dosing or feeding more is my recommendation.

This is a very popular brand for dosing:

Is there some advantage of sodium nitrate vs potassium nitrate, if I have an AWC that would keep potassium levels from rising too high?

Also should any sodium nitrate that is listed on amazon as reagent grade be safe to use?

ACS reagent grade is a good grade. Unless it's a scam, it should be good. So is food grade.

I would not be sure that an AWC keeps potassium in check if you are adding a few ppm each day.

If you start at 400 ppm potassium, change 1% daily with new water at 400 ppm potassium, and add only 2 ppm per day, in 70 days you will reach 500 ppm potassium.

I don't have to add very much nitrate solution to my tank so it probably would be okay, but I was planning on buying reagent grade chemicals so to be on the safe side I'll just change it to sodium nitrate.
Thanks

I just add no3+ from DSR. I prefer this to more feeding. Much more controlled this way.
