Hi guys,

My bio pellets seem to have kicked in and I'm thinking about getting an automatic feeder for my Apex to feed while I'm at work. I k now I'll be using SA Hatchery Diet as my fish seem to love it as much as they love LRS, and some of them love it more.

What are your other favorite dry foods? I'm thinking maybe some formula 1 and 2 in there, also. What else?

I will be feeding frozen at night, but I also want something during the day to keep my pellets constantly fed if I happen to miss a night feeding. :)

Awesome. Thanks, Josh. Are you saying the NLS pellets won't work with the AFS? Maybe that's the question I should be asking... what do you use with your AFS... Hmmm...

New life spectrum works with auto feeders you just need to build a box out of acrylic that the feeder will sit on and with the outlet of the feeder dumping into the box and the box needs to be submerge under water about 1/2 inch or so. It keeps the pellets on the box and then sink instead of going to the overflow.

That's a great point, Luis. I had heard of someone making one of those and thought about building one. Wouldn't take much and would definitely be a big help.

This is a home made one I found on an other forum but I'm sure rick can make this out of smoke acrylic and make it look nice

I just programmed my Apex through Fusion to shut off the pumps when the AFS kicked on. Then I feed frozen at night. I use the Apex feeder with pellets, haven't tried flakes in it yet.

I like the NLS Pellets (make sure to get the bigger ones), Elos SVm2 pellets and, SA Hatchery Diet.

New Life Spectrum pellets, formula 1 and 2 pellets. I mix the formula 1 and 2 in the auto feeder and the feeder dumps into a floating food gate as I call it. It suctions to the side of the tank and the square piece has an open middle and floats. The food dumps into it and it keeps the food there until the sinks. Or in my case, the fish are trained to eat from it so they just swim up to it and eat from it at the set point time in the day.
A LFS owner in L.A. gave me a few of them to give away at one of our meetings. I believe we raffled them off late last year.
