A utility pump is just any pump you are using for maintenance. Something like the Kedsum from Amazon.

The person the mentioned ultility pumps was referring to a specific model though. The Sicce Ultra Zero Utility Pump which is designed to pull as much out of a container as possible.

The ultra zero utility pump as mentioned before. I took my brute off the wheels and the used tubing when doing water changes I just rung the tubing from the utility pump to the tank and the end of the tank I have PVC and made it so that it hangs on the tank so I don't have to hold it while the water fills the tank. I also have a use a. Ball valve to turn on and off the flow to the tank.

Have you had any problems with the saltwater that drains on the lawn killing or inhibiting grass or plants?

Not in northern Ca. My back lawn yellows by august every year from the 100f days. Turns green every Jan Feb on
