So ive been in the hobby for about 20yrs and i have always been curious as to what is better for the fish. Im bringing this up because i just had my LFS order me up a few new fish since i have mostly coral and only 3 fish in my 75 gallon. I know exactly wat time they come in so what would you do or what do you think is better for the fish (less stressful)

1) Having the fish come from the supplier and go straight to ur tank in the same bag.

2) Letting the fish come into the store and be released into THEIR tanks, wait a day or 2 to see if its eating and healthy, then bag it up and take it home. (This is what I usually do but i have always been curious as to it causing more stress to the fish than #1 above).

Thoughts Please....

I would have it come straight to the house acclimate accordingly then qt them for 6 weeks , that’s what I do personally and treat them with para guard from sea chem

Depends. Conceptually, any opportunity to skip a step in the supply chain is a good thing. On the other hand, the LFS functions to some degree as a 'filter' for unhealthy fish that would otherwise die on your dime.

Agreed that it depends. Poor shippers or poor eaters I leave at the store

Hearty fish I would take home In the wholesalers bag
