What Ate the Aiptasia?

Okay, I had a small outbreak of Aiptasia in my Aquarium. I hit it with a Hot Kalk. slurry. Then noticed more nearby, but had to wait about 36 hours, before I could try again. I’ve been checking and there are none. I have a Flameback, “Orangeback Angel” Two Clowns, Three Green Chromis, Two Spot Bristletooth Tang, and a Neon Dottyback. Just wondering what ate them.

Are you sure they are closed up or moved somewhere else? I dont think any of those fish eat aiptasia.

Do you have any peppermint shrimp or nudibranchs in the tank?

I’ve looked, even at night with my red flashlight and nothing. I was thinking of making Lemonade out of Lemons and transferring them to a 2.5 Gallon, for a possible food source, if a Butterfly will eat them. I’m Suspicious of the Neon Dottyback. My Xenia Coral slowly disappeared after I got him, even though I never saw the Dottyback eat it.

if you have a dotty back that eats Aptasia AND Xenia - you should sell him and its genetics to Biota for big bucks!! smile

Agree that Aptasia can shrink down to next to nothing and it could be the nearby talk insulted it - keep and eye out (and I would get some peppermint

As to the Xenia, what other corals do you have that are thriving? These "bullet proof" corals are not always - I watched a Kenya tree shrivel and die while most other LPS and SPS grew just fine -
