What Background Is Best For My Tank???

I have a 46 gallon bow front reef aquarium and I would like some suggestions on what background would be best for my tank. I would like to know if I should just leave it with nothing or if I should get a black one or one with a design on it.

Paint it yourself rather than trying to apply one of those film or acetate sort of backgrounds.

I don’t believe it really matters whether you use gloss, satin, or whatever finish. When you see the background from the viewing pane of the tank, it’s all going to look shiny and smooth. Also, brush marks, drips, or anything else don’t matter. You won’t see them.

I personally used a krylon brushable gloss enamel .

Do you know where to buy black vinyl black ground

Paint is superior to film because when water drips down the back (and it will), you don't end up with visible dried salt creep between the glass and the background.

I use black spray paint. Never had any luck with vinyl. Trying to put it on dry resulted in bubbles, putting it on wet I could see streaks.
