Hey everyone I'm considering getting a bigger macro algae tank maybe 80 to 100 gal, I kind of want just one fish in the tank to be the spotlight and a bunch of macro algae. What tangs wouldn't munch all the macro algae or what larger fish who you all recommend?

It depends on the macroalgae, but my tomini tang never ate gracilaria.

Cyenochaetus genus should work. Just grabbed this off the net.

Well if this is a macroalgae tank and you want a truly unique fish.

Why not get a butterfly? Tangs are super common and most/all would eat the macro.

Seems like the perfect tank for a beautiful, intelligent and unique butterfly.

Tangs are common due to reef safeness and they eat algae. It seems you have a perfect tank for something that doesn’t heavily eat algae and isn’t reef safe.

Plus they are very intelligent and will interact with you. Beauty and brains!

You will have to be reluctant of tangs and other herbivorous fish. I have 25 tangs and after 2 attempts, any macroalgae is salad for them. Rabbitfish are also not likely a tenant as would be some dwarf angels. 80g-100g is not a very large tank and I would shift focus to gobies - blennies - cardinals- basslets as examples
