Hi all,

I'm looking into getting a refractometer. My LFS is selling a few for around $80-$100 but Amazon has a few for $25/$30 with great reviews. What brands do you all use?

I use a Vee Gee. Had a Red Sea refractomer and it was constantly losing calibration. The Vee Gee has been great. I check cal on it but haven't had to touch it since unitial cal. It is on the more expensive side but worth it to me. I also have a Milwaukee digital but it always reads high and I don't bother with it anymore.

I'm using one of the cheap "ATC" version from Amazon; has worked well for the last three years.

My eyesight is pretty poor, so I use a Milwaukee digitalrefractometer. I’ve been extremely happy with it. I once had a Red Sea refractometer. That thing would lose calibration if you looked at it funny... I hated that thing!

Basic one from Marine Depot. Spot on both with calibration fluid at 1.025 and RODI at 0.0

Vee Gee and I love it. Holds calibration, reads a constant 1.026. I used an American Marine Pin Point Salinity monitor which always read on the low side, so I know longer used it. I wish I would have known about and purchased this refractometer before I spent the money on the Pin Point.

BRS branded. Got the LED. Wouldn't do that again. Bright light, window, flashlight I got for Christmas all work much better than the LED. Holds Cal pretty good.

ATC from amazon like $22 and look identical to the one on BRS and still just as accurate

Cheap “ATC” one from Amazon. I calibrate it when I use it once or twice a week. It’s normally off by a hair. I really want to pick up the vee gee one

i have three, they all work just fine.

cheapo ATC
milwaukee digital refracrtometer
Hanna handheld salinity/conductivity meter.
