I used a Canon EOS 50D with Tamron 90MM Macro.
Depending on your budget you could go with either the Canon Rebel XSi or the EOS 40D which are a little easier on the pocketbook. YOu can't beat the Canon's in that price range when it comes to low light performance.

I moved your thread here to the Photography forum, where it better fits. To answer your question, I use a Canon 1D Mark IIn, which is WAY overkill for fish pictures!

I've got a 20D (sorry canon, sure you don't want my endorsement) :snicker: with a tamron 90 mm f2.8

I have a Nikon D50 and primarily use a Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm lens. I've had it for several years and am still learning to take advantage of everything it offers.

Human nature always has us checking to see who owns what and then determining whether what I have is better than what he has. It's important to remember that, though there are limitations, virtually any quality digital camera will get the job done. The variable in the equation is the organism that is operating the camera. Learn your camera's capabilities, practice (yes, you have to practice), and you'll get good shots. I've seen many a person using professional-level equipment not be able to deliver a decent shot if you held a gun to their head. I've also seen as many, if not more, do absolutely brilliant work with a point-and-shoot camera and look at me like I'm nuts for hauling around my bag full of bodies and lenses.
The key is to take the time to learn what your equipment can and can't do, then apply that knowledge and some creativity. If you make the effort, you'll get the shots and it won't matter what equipment you use.
