Hi guys
Im struggling so much to make my mind up between an apex and a ghl controller that my brain is starting to hurt, im leaning very much to the ghl but can you guys tell me is there anything an apex can do but a ghl cant and is there anything ghl can do that an apex cant?

@Ditto started a really great thread documenting their switch from Apex to GHL. While this doesn't answer your question directly, there's a lot of great examples of how the different systems perform the same functions. With all the detail and screenshots, maybe it will help you decide which system is a better fit for you?

With your location being the UK, I believe the EB832 power bar isn't available there if that factors into your decision.

Biggest thing that comes to mind that Apex can do exclusively is run a Trident, but I have no idea when or if they'll be available on your side of the pond :)

Yeah that is a massive factor to me but if the apex can do things a ghl cant then im willing to bite the bullet ang get an apex

I have a GHL Profilux 4 unit and my biggest issue with functionality is the lack of an ability to issue alerts when power usage changes on a socket. They have talked about releasing this software function for over a year (all the hardware is in place) but their developers have prioritized such useless functions as a "log book" instead (major eye roll). If I had of known this, I probably would have gotten an Apex. It's a major gap in their offering. To me it's a key and critical safety alert function. I've never used an Apex, but I hope their app connects faster to the unit than GHL's.

This is my biggest problem with apex is the disregard of the UK market and the overpricing.

This isn't a Neptune or GHL thing. Anytime you start talking about automation or a controller pricing goes out the window. Add that to your pro or con list as you decide. In fact what I strongly suggest you do is make a list of what you want a controller to do for you. Even include tea...

Once you have that list now you can go window shopping for the controller that matches your needs at the price point you are trying to stay within. Should help narrow it down some.

the cost is not the issue, the issue is we are paying more for something that is old, which is putting mr off buying apex, I don't care if apex cost £10000 if I was getting the same as somebody else, I don't have a price point I just wanted to know what one can do the other cant so I don't really see what your point is but thanks for your input

The point is simple. Make a list of what you want in a controller then buy the one that covers most if not all on your list. Don't get caught up in which does something the other doesn't. If you want it to make tea and the GHL does and the Apex doesn't, then you answered your own question. You would buy the GHL.

I am undecided which unit to get, so I want as much info as I can get so I can make my mind up, this question is just one of many to ask, my decision will be based on a number of things from my own research and other peoples experiences I take your point but you misunderstand why I am asking this question

For a UK customer.... the GHL has per socket power monitoring whereas Apex does not. The Apex has an automatic feeder on the market whereas GHL does not.

95% of everything else there is overlap between both products and it comes down to user interface and looks. I would recommend watching recent videos/images for both to gauge which seems to work better for you. Both companies have been in the hobby for a long time. Apex has transitioned to a cloud based management first with direct connect/touch second GHL is the opposite in my opinion.

Thoughout @Ditto's thread there are several direct comparison images between the two ecosystems. If you are using the dark mode of R2R, you can quickly scan through his thread for apples to apples comparison of capabilities.
