Good evening fellow reefers, so I have added a few new corals. There are 2 that I'm concerned about. A pink acropora that still has polyp extension but is turning white at the base. And a candlelight acropora that has lost its green color and the green polyps at the base are retreating it looks like. Also looks like there are little white spots at the base.

Here are the corals

The first one I believe is a pink acropora and I raised flow and raised the lighting in the tank. If this helps how will I tell? How long will is take to see a difference

Tank too new and dry rock not mature enough to support acropora is a high possibity. Could be lighting, give us some info in your lights. Alk issues, not stable, too high or low. Salinity too high or low, are you using a regularly properly calibrated refractometer?

First one is showing RTN or STN; how long did it take for the base to turn white? Rock definitely looks like it's an immature system which makes keeping acropora more difficult. Do you have any water parameters that you could share (more importantly, history of those data so we can try to identify any trends)? What is creating the flow within the display and what settings are you using (type and intensity level). Same thing for lighting. Unfortunately, the top one likely wont last long but don't write it off just yet.

From the pics, it appears that the aquarium is fairly new. How old is aquarium? Please post your aquarium parms?
What size aquarium and and what type light do you have?

I tested my water saterday
Am-0
Ph-0.25
Cal-440 (24hr after dosing with Kent)
Mag 1400
Alk 7.0

I have a 60 gallon display tank with 90lbs of live rock. There are 2 powerheads one being 600gph and the other 200gph. I have a 10gall wet dry sump with a separate 20gal refugium with a seaclone 100 skimmer for the lighting Lightimetunnel WiFi LED Aquarium Light, 165W WiFi + Dimmable Fish Tank Light Full Spectrum Timer Control Four Channels Freshwater Saltwater Carols Marine Tanks. (China box) I have one right now I will.be geting another one soon.

I have been starting small with coral so I can get used to dosing. The tank is about 5 months old. I buy ocean water from my LFS

How log was calcium before and what was alk when you brought your calcium back up. You may be having alk swings. Start testing once or twice a day to see how its going.

It might also have something to do with flow. Two powerheads totaling 800 gph is pretty low for acros.

Moves are stressful. New tanks are stressful - this looks like a sterile and new tank... once you start to grow coralline like crazy and have to scrape the glass every week, then acros get a lot easier. Sometimes there is just nothing that you can do until the tank matures.

The two powerheads combined produce about 13x turnover in the tank which is extremely low for acropora; for comparison sake, I have two 3500gph powerheads in my 75g (run in anti-sync so it's a constant 3500 vs 7000 combined) and I could use more.

Is your 60g 36" long or 48" long? A single "black box" LED isn't adequate for a 48" long tank but could work on a 36" long tank with selective placement of the acroporas.

It's is a 48" long tank and my pink acropora bleached over night. My thoughs are, my Dt is at 72.4° and refugium is at 76.5 I have a 300w and 200w heater in the refugium. My Dt temp fluctuates how can I stop that it fluctuates 6° and I think that is affecting my tank alot also. Please help and I know I'm planning on purchasing another light. And what are your thoughts on hanging a small frag rack on the front of my display with different hights and putting my frags there till I understand a little more?

I am very sad. I keep hearing mature rock can someone explain how that affect the acro's. Will red hair algae affect these corals? I have been fighting it for about a month
