This guy has algae growing on his mouth. Been there about 10 days. Thought it would go away, but it seems to continuing growing. He's happy, healthy and eating but looking a bit silly.

Can I do anything about it?

Poor guy, looks so cute. My only thought would be freeze a large clam. Drop it in frozen and let him go to town, if you feed that normally. Maybe the frozen clam will get that beak working and dislodge the algea.

He looks like he’s got ton of personality.

I have a Valentini that looks like he needs a trip to the dental hygenist too. Clams didn't help. Mine doesn't have the level of growth that yours has though. Does he scrape his teeth on the rock at all?

Looks like he is getting an algae mustache, happens to puffers in the wild. Never seen one on a captive fish before.

I recently removed all substrate to get a Cyano issue under control, to there really isn't anything for him to grind his beak on. I do see him poking around the rock and thought this would be enough.

Oh yeah... when you put your hand in the tank, he lies to swim in and out among my fingers... to the point where he gets in the way! LOL

Are you speaking about a store bought clam from the market?

Yes, he does poke around the live rock from time to time.
