I have some leftover chunks of dry rock very large chunks. I also have some empty space in my 20g I want to fill. are these rocks even useful they are awkward shapes very jagged and 2 of them are old chunks of coral. One seems to just be a flat disk of rock. Any ideas? Should I smash them and use the chunks?

Look fine to me, unique rocks make the tank. Throw em in!
I'm worried if I can grow any form of coral on them. The flat one could possibly be a zoa garden. The awkward coral shaped ones... I'm not sure what coral could look good on it.

That’s all the character of a reef! I had a flat rock that I used as a base for other rocks. I love the unique and coral shaped ones. So natural as pillars or outcrops.

Do you have an overhang in the 20g already? I would go for a pillar/spire type look.

This is what I'm working with. I have a ron of room in the back

It could be built off of the left side of your structure or on the lower right rock. Or completely on its own. Just make sure it’s stable and you like it!
I am awful at hardscaping, can you demonstrate spire/pillar
None of these photos are mine, I just found them on google.
