I dont want to paint my 90g background black but is there anything else i can use? maybe something i can just stick on the back and able to pull off later? or if not able to pull off that would be fine. I saw something like that on someones tank thread but dont remember where it is...

You apply it just like you would of your vehicle window, a little soap and water. You can get window tint and auto stores , walmart, online is best beucase you can get the darkest "illegal" tint.

Applying window tint

autoparts store. instructions should be included. it's not hard. buy a hard plastic squeegee, too...or a credit card works.

Oh cool never thought about window tint for the tanks. Ill look around walmart and auto stores and if anything ill try that pet place :) thanks everybody!

I used a blue plexiglass from a sign store then I took a small light tube and it shines down on the plexiglass it give a deep look that I see when I go diving I call it the infinity back. I also cut out some small fish from black vinyl and put them on the back and a liitle rock scape.

Every pet shop I have ever been in sells vinyl background that is black on one side and blue on the other. Its sold by the foot and is cheap.
That being said I much prefer paint, the vinyls and films all eventually get salt creep between them and the glass and need cleaning. Paint stays clean looking as long as you don't scratch it but is easy to touch up if scratched.

Never had a problem with salt creep getting under the vinyl as long as you apply it right...

im going to be using the 2% tint on my 150xt...reason for the tint..so i can move a vortech around without scratching paint off...granted most spray paints do stick...but they dont stick very well...use your finger nail and see for your self.

i would also opt to use vinyl but i have had the tint for a wile now and why spend money on something that i have already :)

There is so many options.... hmmm i want black vinyl that sticks to the glass, i went to a few LFS but they just have the regular ones (black side and blue side) but doesnt stick.

Frank that sounds like a great idea! please share pics of you have any.

Go to the Dollar Store or WalMart and buy a black towel and tape it to the back of the tank. If you change your mind it will come off very quickly.
