What can Reef2Reef do for you?

I need some serious input from you here.

We're working on some cool stuff for R2R, upgrades and such to make R2R even better.

I have the opportunity to really add some cool features to R2R and I don't want to add anything that you wouldn't use. So thinking in terms of our site and our forum, what would be a cool feature we could have that would make you want to come here every day or more often?

It's ok to think outside the box!

Currently I am thinking about our own aquarium tracking like you see in certain apps, etc.. A place to keep a tank log, photos, notes, etc..

Is this interesting?

Maybe a dosing calculator with all the current dosing chemicals. There are a few out there but are old and missing a lot of the new products out there.

A personal coral collection database. Somthing that each member can make public or keep private. Have feilds that we can put in coral names, descriptions, photos, who we got it from, date acquired if we are willing to trade or sell it, ect. Then make it searchable if it is made public. Would be a great way to compare corals and verify names. If would be like a facebook for our coral collections.

Great idea and could go hand in hand with a tank log.

That would be amazing! Nothing like being able to search something like ora red planet tick show pictures as an option, search for the best coloration and then view the tanks specs, conditions, lighting type, placement, ect. It would be ground breaking for this hobby.

This is a great idea. I think more reference articles would be great. Unless you already have that and I don't realize it. I know Randy Holmes-Farley has some great articles on his reef chemistry forum.

If there was an app to track testing results I would use it. I use notepad now on iPhone, but it's not great. Bonus if you could graph or calculate daily depletion if wanted over a few days of measurements.

Another idea would be to have a vendor profile page. I like that they have their own sub forums but it would be nice to see an organized and complete all in one list, with a brief description, a link to their site, and geographical location. They could also post their current sales, giveaways, hot new coral, and other important information. There has been so many times I have missed a sale, giveaway, charity, or killer deal on a new hot coral because their post gets hidden or lost in the crowd. You could even have have a subscribe button next to each vendor on the list.

I'd like to be able to register and receive notification of specific vendors I select immediately upon them posting up a thread. Kind of like having a series manager on my dvr.

Most people come to the forums are new...brand new. being new myself, I would find it extremely helpful to have somewhere to go to get answers. Right now, if you ask about cycling, you get 30 different answers, but not necessarily having the question asked. Just my opinion.

For example, I've asked if my ammonia drops during the cycle, and my nitrites are sky high, do I redose up to 2ppm?

Now, I've asked a million questions and probably 90% have been answered, and I am very very thankful for that.

Lots of great ideas.
Love a "coral tracker" allows me to enter that I got coral x from vendor y. Then later the lineage can be checked if I want to sell.

A vendor rating system. Maybe with out comments, just a + or -. Or as full scale as eBay.

One of the big reasons I am here is what you do for vendors, allowing them to actually sell in their forums. Whatever you can do for the sponsors is a win in my book.
