Think I've seen people use some sorta stump remover from home depot.

You may be right mate but it just seems a bit crude to me. Who knows what contaminents could exist in a plant fertiliser maunufacturing facility.

One could also say who knows what they put in these aquarium supplements... Stump remover is just potassium Nitrate. Should be just fine to use.

Personally I'd prefer feeding the tank more instead. Or maybe taking a skimmer or fuge or something offline.

Neo nitro from brigtwell or nitrate from esv are both good products

Thread, meet thread

I buy potassium/calcium/magnesium nitrate from greenleaf aquariums and dose whenever I need a top-up. Have done a recent ICP test with no abnormal heavy metals etc detected so not adding any contaminants with those products.

careful because it can take a while to show up and then get out of control all a sudden. Just add a few fish or up the feeding times per day.
