Need help just bought a dx18 aquatic life hybrid light and want to control the dimmable feature to match my AI hydra light schedule. I do not have any controller yet and was wondering if there’s a cheaper option then apex.

Does the light have a 0-10v control input?

If it has a 0-10v input for control then a Hydros Control 4 will be able to control it with one of it's four 0-10v outputs.

How much is the hydros ?
It depends on which on or ones you want to get. You would need one with 0-10v outputs if your lighting can be controlled with 0-10v.At this time only the X4 and Wave Engine v2 have the 0-10v output ports. The X4 can be purchased in two different starter kits. The standard starter kit and the Pro Pack. The difference is in the Pro Pack it has a XP8 with it instead of a wifi power strip and controller power pack. The wifi power strip has 4 AC outlet and communicates via wifi to the controller. The XP8 has 8 AC outlets and communicates via command buss.
Here is a link to the standard starter kit https://www.coralvue.com/hydros-control-x4-starter-pack . The X4 can be purchased as a separate controller but that has no power pack or AC outputs and is intended for someone adding a controller to an existing collective. A collective is a group of controllers that act as one large controller sharing inputs and outputs. So when you want to expand you just get the controller that matches your needs and a command buss cable and connect it into you other controller or controllers. You will also need at least one terminator to start a collective. Just remember that the first controller in the collective when formed will retain its programming all others added will be added without any programming they may have had setup. So you add the new controller to your account, setup wifi settings and make sure it has current firmware. Once done then add it to your collective. You can have a controller connected with a command buss cable without it being a member of the collective so you can do the initial setup that way.

Had the same dilemma and decided I did not want to get into the controller game so although I have the option to dim, I don't. I have my T5's on a timer and use them for my peak lighting time while my Kessil does my ramp up/down. Would love to use the dimmable feature but...

If it's just 0-10v control then wouldn't any light controller work? If the goal is just to add a dimming schedule to the lights then maybe this will work. I don't have any experience with it, but it looks like my old Kessil controller when they used 0-10v control.

Reached out to Aquatic Life and they said this works but you need the cord as well.
