What coral am I looking at?

When I got one, it took about a couple months to settle, then started sprouting new branches like crazy. Overall a medium grower.

Im just now getting ready to cycle my rock. So i plan to just spend the next few months reading up on corals. Probably just stick with softies. The hardier stuff.

Aren't these white-polyped ones NPS?

I'd have guessed the photosynthetic ones would have yellow-brown tones to their polyps from their zooxanthellae.

Both are quite fickle with light & water movement correct?

The main thing I know about gorg's is that you DO NOT want to expose them to air for any length of time. >0 seconds in air will kill them IME.

Other than that, the photosynthetic ones seem very tolerant. I personally haven't had luck with any of the white polyp ones....but I also never had one this color....red or yellow skin only as far as I recall.

That one is a variety is sea whip. PS and grows quite fast for me. Mines touching the surface again and will have to be fragged soon. Which as far as air goes they require their flesh to be peeled from the inner rod to prevent them from rotting when fragging and I can't do that underwater so they are exposed to air during this process and I've yet to lose a frag...and only takes about 5 days for new flesh to start growing over the epoxy.

Nope lurking & learning. Whom it belonged to, they haven't logged in recently, so this seemed like my best option & now I know .
