Hey y'all!

So... I have this coral that I can't seem to grasp what it may be. The story of this is quite interesting. When I went to the store I noticed there was a nice plug covered entirely in coralline but it had this dead coral on it. I asked the employee if I could have this plug because I am trying to seed as much coralline as I can. He said no problem and if I wanted to take the dead coral off of it. I said, "No, just leave it." When I got home, I took the plug and snapped off the coral that just looked like a dead skeleton of I don't know what coral. I tossed it on a rock and forgot about it. After exactly 20 days, I was moving my ducan to another area to give him more space for growth and that's when I noticed the dead coral of to the side. I had forgotten all about it and picked it up...that's when I noticed something pretty wild.... IT HAD MOUTHS! I am mind blown and super curious to know what this is! If anyone knows please let me know!

Sun coral is a good call out, but I'd think it would be really hard to recover on its own since it is non photosynthetic. It would have required lots of feeding of plankton and eventually meaty foods to make a recovery. Otherwise it looks like a blastomussa merletti since they have a branching structure.

In 20 days it grew mouths in each part of the branch top. Today the polyps came out for the first time. It’s making a recovery and it’s doing it insanely fast. When I threw it off to the side, it looked completely dead and no yellow was present. After 20 days, I noticed mouths on it. I think it will make a complete recovery

Thats right how is this doing? I forgot about this. I know all your other rescue corals are doing great!

How does this thing look now? Did u save it?
When I get home I’ll get a pic! It’s still alive! I forgot I had posted about it lol thanks for reminding me. I will give everyone an update on it. I just got a new light few weeks ago, a lot of the coral have been acclimating to it cause it’s a very big differnce from what I had before. So, a lot of corals changed; colors, shape, etc. changed in a good way! This one stay in a lot during this process but its now coming out. It looks like it’s about to be done acclimating. I’ll get a pic of it when I get home
