So I am new to this hobby and just set my tank up about a month ago. As of right now I have 2 clowns in the tank and a small CUC. What coral should I add first? I have a biocube 32 led which I hear is good for LPS and soft coral. What is easy/looks good for a beginner?

I agree. It was one of the first corals I added to my tank. Started with 3 heads and now 2.5 years later it's the size of a softball without directly feeding it.
Also one of my first corals. Started with 2 heads about 6 years ago. It is now the size of a mini basketball. Would be much bigger if I never cut frags off of it

What about acans? I really love the look of them.

I have never kept acans before, mainly because I usually have some angels in my tank that would love to eat them. I’ll let someone else comment on how easy or not they are to keep.

Well that answers my question. I want a flame angel...

Sometimes you get lucky and they don’t nip your corals, but you need to be prepared to remove the acans if the fish decides they are on the menu. I have a rock beauty that loves to eat chalice corals so I just don’t keep them or anything that is very fleshy like open brains, or scollys.

Okay so I assume starting with a small frag would be smart and test the water.

Yes I would start with a small frag just so you don’t waste money and then find out later something is wrong. If it survives for a few weeks I would say it’s safe to add a couple more

Also I have a flame angel and I guess I was one of the lucky ones because although it nips at rocks looking for pods ect, it doesn’t eat my corals :)

I vote for something that won’t become invasive or you will regret it later when you want room for other stuff. No Xenia, Green Star Polyps, or Kenya Trees. I think a Duncan would be great! Or a leather that won’t become invasive like a Green Nepthea. That was my first coral and I still have it. It has grown a lot, but doesn’t spread where you don’t want it and is easy to frag.

I would suggest acan or duncan. Both like low flow and low light.
