What Corals can be by my anemone? ??

I've started rhicordia's/shrooms on the far right side... I'm trying to get the rocks covered before I start throwing stuff on the sand bed. Big tanks take forever to fill up... lol I'll buy something add it and still go geez my tank looks bare... ;p

I've had a little luck with green button polyps, zoas, and mushrooms by my bubble tips. They aren't touching constantly, but they're on the same rock and the corals get the occasional brush by the anemones.

Beautiful tank and I love the anemones! I'm shopping around on other's threads to plan on what to put in my first reef tank

I read that anemones and corals shouldn't be kept in the same tank and was very disappointed because I wanted both. So maybe there is hope?!

I've seen plenty tanks with both. But everyone has different results. Good luck!

I keep two rbta anemones with my reef! Most people with anemones seem to have corals as well from what I've seen. Just keep them away from each other, as the anemones can sting corals and possibly kill them.

I'm very glad! I was really wanting an anemone AND corals. I've always loved the way anemones look but didn't want to have a tank of just them, lol!

Newbie questions here

: so if the anemone gets up and moves next to your prize corals and starts being unfriendly then what? That was the reason the sources gave for not mixing the two. Of course these were beginner reef books so maybe that was why they suggested not having anemones in the tank with corals?

I keep my anemones on their own island with cheap, quick spreading, corals. When I wasn't, or if they happened to move to a coral I didn't want near, I try to get the anemones to move it move the coral if I can. Usually if you give the anemones a gentle poke, they'll move.

From what I'm taking, you don't have your tank setup yet... what I would do is put the anemone in the tank first and let it find its happy spot. Happy anemone's don't move. Once you find out where it wants to be you can adjust your aquascape to isolate "island" your anemone and then place the rest of the corals you want In the areas the anemone isnt.

But don't forget, anemone's do better in well established tanks and you'll probably want to put corals in while it's establishing so if you go that route be ready to move stuff around.

This. My mixed reef has been up for about 4 months now. Added a RBTA a couple days ago and she's doing great! Luckily she hasn't moved at all and is already hosting my midnight clown. If it's happy, it'll stay put! (Same rock as some SPS/Zoas)
