what corals do u feed when the lights go out?

I came across an article saying it was better to feed certain types of corals at night but I cannot find it now, which corals do you all feed at night, if any at all?

I don't feed corals. You don't need to. It's a waste of money and increases your no3 and po4.

I dose some zooplankton or phytoplankton at lights out mainly because that’s when the candy canes open up and extend their tentacles to feed but I only dose one or the other once a week

ok.. the only corals I have now are a dunce, hammer, zoas, and GSP

By "dunce" do you mean duncan? I feed my LPS and SPS corals Reef Frenzy. The big chunks go to the LPS, and the small particles to the SPS, and they're doing great.

Lots of lps have super long sweeper tentacles at night. You can only see them after it’s been super dark for a few hours. Usually around 3 or 4am here. You can target feed them mysis and reef roids, it improves growth and coloration. Non photosynthetic corals need this as well.

yes I meant Duncan.... I was only wondering bc I havnt really seen much growth from my corals thus far, but my tank is only abot 3 months old

everybody on Craigslist sells them for $5 a head but they are all over 2 hours away not feeling that long ride and no way I’m paying $99 a head

Baby brine shrimp has been my go to for sps along with reef chilli. Mysis for LPS. I have always thought coral should be fed specifically until they reach a size you want to slow their growth when colonies get large.

I feed my corals at least 2 times a week. Reef Roids with fish roe. I will also mix in my fish food (reef frenzy) with reef roids and fish roe. I feed once a day usually at night.

I just bought some live phytoplankton and have been feeding small amounts just before I go to bed.

Feeding accelerates growth and coloration

I never feed my zoas. Only LPS . Basically any meaty coral with a mouth .
