Thank you! Nothing has been added to the tank. My concern is that the spots multiplied extremely quickly and are on his body now not just the fins so I was hoping it’s not marine velvet. From reading my research, if there are too many to count, it might be that instead of ich.Beautiful fish! How long have you had it? Any thing new added to the tank in the last 30 days or so that was "wet" like fish, corals, inverts?
Hey, and welcome to R2R!
What can I treat the fish with? I originally tried nox ich and now purchased Copper Power as it appears to be the safest version of copper. I know puffers are extremely sensitive to copper and don’t want to stress him out by dipping him.Looks like marine ich. Will need quarantine/treat and fallow the tank for 76 days to eradicate if my suspicion is correct.

Salinity is 1.023 and ammonia is perfect. Last water change was 4 days ago.May be be bacterial. What is your tank salinity and ammonia level?
Also what is your water change/maintenance schedule? Mainly - what ate you feeding and how often.
I associate this with water quality hence the specific questions
I am feeding it krill soaked in garlic solution and snails. Wouldn’t raising the salinity make it easier for ich to survive in comparison to hypo?Bring salinity to 1.024-1.025
What are you feeding puffer?
Is there any other way of treating without Chloroquine Phosphate? It’s in a fish only tank. I’ve been using Copper Power but it doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve noticed some light brown/tan spots on the glass of the tank that are about a half inch to an inch over the past couple of days. Any idea what those could be. Thanks! Is this the only fish in the tank?
Any corals or inverts?
I think 1.023 salinity is fine for the puffer but youll want to either pull it out and get it in a hospital tank to treat with CP as outlined above or if its a fish only tank you can treat it in the display if youre certain you dont want a reef in the future.
Whatever you decide, youll want to do it quick and heed warnings above, if the fish stops eating, cease meds or try different enticing foods.
Velvet is quick and very very sad to watch a finned friend suffer with.
Striped BurrfishWhat kind of puffer? Don’t mean to threadjack but I just love it.
76 days??!! I’ve read that if there’s no host in the tank it usually can die in as little as two days to two weeks depending on how fast the life cycle is.Looks like marine ich. Will need quarantine/treat and fallow the tank for 76 days to eradicate if my suspicion is correct.
Cysts lay eggs daily and there are new cysts developed. 2 days is out of question in Most cases.76 days??!! I’ve read that if there’s no host in the tank it usually can die in as little as two days to two weeks depending on how fast the life cycle is.
