What could this be?

This guy has been fine and then I noticed these weird whitish bumps that look like the are not flush againt the body.

There are a few things this could be; mucus plugs, reactions to flukes or ich, injury from urchins/tangs, etc.

Ok so I'm not crazy but all of those weird white spots are gone. They were there 3 hours ago and now none. I'll get all the background info as you requested and post it here shortly.

With marine ich, the spots will come and go. Mucus plugs can do so also, but not as quickly. Sand grains stick to fish mucus and later fall off.
