In my eyes a happy coral is a coral that has insane polyp extension at night and vibrant colors.

Many of us have corals that look fine but are they tru

Growth, feeders out occasionally, good color and polyps extended

I think an open coral with good polyp extension is happy

and a coral that is growing is thriving.

When its smiling back at me :)
But seriously - for me its all about how vibrant and healthy it looks, and how well its growing.

I judge the corals "happiness" mostly by growth. My happiness I usually judge by growth and color. With my acans for example I have found some of the best colors I can get often/usually do not correspond with the best growth rates.

With other coral like anenomes I find that things like excessively splitting even when small is a sign of unhappiness (or at least stress).

Also not a big believer that polyp extension is necessarily a sign of happiness. Most acros I ever had that had an RTN/STN event had good polyps extension as the flesh around them was blowing away.

Thats alot of green corals.

Id define it as good polyp extension good color and good growth. I usually have good polyp extension and color but growth is something I'm working on. Doing alot more testing these days.
