What did my Ricordea just barf up?

I have had this for at least 2 weeks and it has never been fed anything. It was and is still happy looking, but last night it spit out three inches worth of this stringy stuff. It was all attached in a single long string but broke just before I took the picture. What happened?

Give him some privacy! It's pooping (evacuating) basically lol. I heard it tends to happen more frequently in a higher nutrient system.

It's a coral only tank and my issue has actually been too low nutrients. I just don't know where it got it from!

nothing. I tried once and they had no interest, so I have left them alone. They seem perfectly happy

They have it. That one isn't even glued down. I let it wonder around until it found a spot it liked. It's big enough that it didn't blow all over the place.

I recommend Polyp lab Reefroids. Use cautiously and only target feed (my experience). It'll kick up your phosphates quickly

Yea when people say reef roids increase phosphates they aren’t joking.

Is that the color it came with? Looks a bit bleached which is consistent when what vetteguy said above about expelling zoox. If it truly never ate anything then there should be anything that big it can poop out.

For exp, I usually see this in my corals as undigested food that typically follow from when i feed too much the night before - they'd barf it back out pretty quickly

Under white lights many, if not most, Florida Ricordia are pale like that. At least the other five I have are and were when I bought them. It's kind of disappointing considering how fabulous they look under blues. This one is a yellow/orange so it looks particularly pale.
