What did you do to your reef today?

Checked the aquatic atmosphere with test kit... All is well, added purple up... Moved some coral around.

I had tug of war with my anemone eating my huge star. Anemone won. Moved some things that had been acclimating to permanent location in tank. All 3 Twinklets in the house so not much more with tank.

Did a waterchange. Been getting hair algae so sprayed rock with peroxide. Emptied and completely cleaned my sump and pumps.

figured out the actinic ati bulb i just bought is bad. also topped off my sump and cleaned the glass. slow day on the reef for me :P

Dosed my daily 2 part, cleaned my skimmer, changed filter floss, and fixed a stupid shelf rock that kept falling. Oh, and I dug out a penny that one of my kids decided to toss in there

added my no3po4x to dripper cleaned filter sock cleaned skimmer got limewater drip ready for tonight started some brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, english peas, greenbeans & spinach so I can spend less at the grocery & more on my tank :bounce:

Assembled and installed my new Reef Octopus Diablo 160 XS skimmer. Added top off water and uprighted a Zoe frag and shroom that the hermit knocked off their perch. Headed to the LFS shortly to grab some epoxy to alleviate that problem.

hmmm today, i just looked at it. no maintenance done. yesterday i picked up a tiny jewel damsel and 2 pedersons shrimp.

Did a mild water cleaning. Since my levels are good , but a lot of detritus/diatom on the sandbed. Got some Polly padding and quad layered over my bucket and sucked that crap up and poured the water back and forth throu the Polly pad a few times and put back in the tank. Now the sand bed is clean.
For the life of me, I can't get flow onto the buildup areas with the power heads to keep the sand clean. Without blowing that **** everywhere or blasting my corals. I guess it is what it is.

But
Is getting a mp 10 , gonna reall make that big of a diff. In my case ? Or does anyone else have the same frigging problem?

I find there's always a spot that collects more detritus than others...I usually take a turkey baster to the sand in that area every couple days to keep it stirred up and clean. The MP10 may help with the random flow, may not...

I have heard some people say man I had power heads all over the place and had standing crap on the sand bed. But once I got a vortech mp10 . I was able to take them all out and just use the mp10, and the sand bed was clean and my corals wasn't getting hammered with too much flow.

Is this true, or a bunch of crap. I see mp10's for sale every where which makes me wonder. And that's a lot of money for 1 power head . For hopes and dreams... Ya know. !

water change, and i bought a montipora, LFS guy said it was something called Joker Tyree or something along those lines. Dont have a pic but its blue with small green polyps.

i cleaned my Protein skimmer... one less thing to do when I do a 25 g water change tuesday
