I’ve been hearing that a lot of different brands don’t prevent red and acro and other eating bugs.
is this true?

if so, what do you recommend?

I always use Bayer and dip it in that. If I see something I may not like on the SPS coral or frag plug then I remove the frag from the plug and put it on a new plug. You can also cut the frag off of the plug and glue it to a new plug.

Most dips work great. Most dips will irritate and kill bugs enough for them to fall off the coral if present, but no dips kill eggs. That’s what you are probably reading and misunderstanding. To ensure you get possible eggs you would have to dip every 3-4 days for a month or so. This is to catch any hatched eggs before they make more. This would ideally be in a qt where they would potentially jump onto something else.
