Hi guys. I will be using my 20g freshwater tank as my qt tank for my new saltwater tank. What should I do with my fish in it right now!? I don't want to kill or torture them in any way. I have 6 baby mollies and 2 neon tetras. All about an inch big. Thanks.

Keep the mollies in there and slowly raise the salinity to 1.025. They will do fine in saltwater and can keep the tank cycled for you.
The tetras I would just give to a pet store or fellow freshwater hobbies the.

I am a member of local facebook groups for fish keeping. Give them away there.

They will cycle the tank, though. The same bacteria that exists for the freshwater, isn't the same for salt. You would still have to start over with the cycle.

I agree with this but if you are going fish only I think tetras can handle 1.015 which is still ok for most saltwater fish. Plus starting to add saltwater fish when levels are at 1.009 you will help kill any ich that they might have and parasites. Don't leave it below 1.015 to long as it will harm the saltwater fish. Some fish do require higher salinity and very stable levels.

Sorry ment that once they were set up for saltwater. Leave them in the QT tank to keep it cycled for further use.
