So what do you all use when vacuuming/cleaning your sand beds? I am getting to the point where I will need to do it soon.
Please and thankyou(^-^)

Just a regular old siphon. Use my thumb to plug the exit end of the hose to allow the sand to fall back down and control my rate of siphon. I have read others use a filter sock and recycle the water so they can vacuum more and always thought that was smart

I use one of those gravel vacuums that lifts the sand but leaves it in the tank. Using monthly seems to help for me.

It’s also very common for nano reefs to not mess with the sand until its dirty, then take the rocks out, corals and fish, clean the sand and set it all back skip cycle as a perfect reset bed, aged top surfaces. I’m getting mine out to 3 years ish each round before cleans. doing total catch up runs every x number of years is also viable.

Also nasuerias snails are good to have. They will keep sand sifted. Get you some of those.
