What do you consider to be a daily stable Alkalinity range?

Hey Greg - Rochester local here, and I'll be there this Saturday. I didn't realize the frag fest had talks - that's great! Making it more than just selling/buying is awesome. That being said, will you have stuff for sale?

As far as Alk stability, I've never checked more than once per day, so now I'm curious if it really fluctuates that much. My Litermeter should keep it pretty stable.

Joe didn't advertise the talks as much as he could have. Ellery is giving a talk on making your own frozen food, and I am talking about the Balling method. I probably should have sold off some stuff. I have a number of hydnophora frags that I would just as soon get out of my DT.

re stability. I am more curious about day/night utilization. I've wanted to look at that for some time -- but that requires getting out of bed to do a KH test -- that would not be popular.

Maybe do an Alk test every hour for a 24 hour period, and do this with dosing and without dosing as a control. Yeah, the night third of this experiment might require unusual levels of commitment...

I test every morning when I first feed the fish. If something is out of wack or I'm experimenting with something that could affect consumption, then I'll test in the morning and in the evening. Typically my Alk is 8.8 - 9.0 every morning. When I was doing CO2 testing my evening test was never outside that range. Once my Alk drops below 8.6 then I'll add another 10ml of Alk and Calcium to the daily dosing. This simple routine has kept things stable for over a year now. I only test Calcium and Magnesium once a week for water going out and if I have made a new batch of salt.
