What do you do for power outages?!

Heat is the biggest problem with a power outage for me too. I have a battery backup which is fine for flow, but there's really nothing you can do for heat other than a generator. I do have one but I can't really run it at night. Last time there was an extended power outage my tank fell to 71 degrees overnight and I lost a few acros and about half my fish :(
I made my own battery backup using a deepcycle battery inverters and relays. It keeps my heaters and powerheads going for up to 10 hours

Battery backups to each mp10, Airpumps with spare USB charges. I also made a tank blanket, material with insulate material inside, wraps around in place. Portable generators aren’t quiet in a neighborhood.

I'm in Pennsylvania, 10hours of battery backup to run the heater and return pump. After that I have a genny to recharge the batteries, I figure in an extended situation I can run the lights including ats when the batteries are recharging and hand dose the tank. Tank can run in that matter as long as my gasoline holds out ;)

We never have power outages here but went and put a battery back up on the ice cap 3000. And decided to get a 4500 watt generator just in case. Well, a month after getting the generator, a car took out a feed power pole to our underground electric grid. Lines down all over the place. They had to put in new poles. Plugged my tank, refrigerator, and separate freezer in. Power was out like 12 hours. Best 399$ I spent on this hobby.

We have a generator to run the house. Battery backups only last soo long. Even the small HomeDepot 15 amp Inverters can be purchased for the same price as a ecotech battery backup these days

I never thought that it was lucky how unreliable the power is where I live. We have power outages all the time and it can last multiple days. After an ice storm and 9 days without power (I buried food in the bed of snow filled pickup) and not being able to actually even leave the house...inch of ice on top of feet of snow.

That said, whole house generator with automatic transfer switch. If you can swing it, it's bliss.
