What do you do when your power goes out?

There's a lot of ways to give your tank power while a power outage occurs. I recently purchased a generator for my fish tank but the problem is it's too loud to turn on at night if an outage occurs. Anyone have any reccomendations?
I bought two Penn Plax Silent Air B11 from Amazon. One for my 25 then one for my 55 but split the hose so I have one on each end of the tank. They were super cheap and they work. They stay plugged in but once the power goes out the batteries kick in and the air starts coming out.

joseph, you can get a hospital grade or critical grade muffler for your gen.
w.w. graingers sells them. hope this helps

Great tip Kevin. Do you know if their brick and mortar stores are wholesale only to buisnesses or retail to regular folks. I have never been in one thanks.

I have a Nissan LEAF electric car and as long as the battery is charged I can run my skimmer and 2 powerheads for days. I just run an extension cord from the car in the garage right to the tank. It's come in handy on multiple occasions. I have a Penplax battery powered pump that kicks in too if I'm not home.

I have a generator for backup but I believe the most important thing is to decide what portion of the equipment you actually need if the powers going to be out for a while and fuel for the gene becomes hard to find. In my case I have a mag 18 that lifts water from the sump. I can check the amp draw and get an inverter that will handle that load by running it off a battery. Corals can survive low lighting for several days but keeping the water oxygenated is primary to me.

We have a gas powered honda generator that is loud and won't run all night without refueling. However, it has already kept our system going during a recent loss of power that lasted 16 hours. I only have to get up once during the night to refuel.
I am wondering if a battery back up would be good in addition to the generator - for reasons stated here - in case no one is home to start the generator or in case we run out of fuel.
We have the battery operated air pumps (cheap from amazon) but I wonder if two of them are sufficient for a well stocked 90 gallon set up?
I am sorry to report I am not creative enough or skilled enough to rig a car battery into the system.

This is what I rely on when I shut my generator of for the night . Keeps every thing fine for 6 or do hours when I kick the generator back on in the morning.
