What do you do with coral you can't sell?

Sump it? Trash it? Accept your new xenia/GPS/Kenya tree overlords?

If you trash it, how do you dispose of it safely?

You can give it away for free to an lfs a lot of time. Or you could give it so someone with coral eating fish.

I've had my share of overgrown coral, especially birdsnest / montipora and stylos. They go into a 5 gallon bucket that I keep outside, to dry out. Nice pieces are bleached and turned into decor or reef art. The rest is crushed and added to compost pile for the gardens. If I had a calcium reactor, I suppose I'd try to recycle.

I sell them very cheap for charity to local reefers in my area. I have trimmed my toadstool and trashed it once though. The best option is a tank upgrade

No one within a 100 miles of me reefs(to my knowledge), and I'm well over 100 miles to the closest LFS that does salt.

My clippings and dead corals get chucked in the woods next to my house.

I swear in a couple hundred years, scientists will think this little neck of woods once containted a thriving reef. lol

Yep for me they go in the trash unfortunately, luckily it's mostly just been a kenya tree, although parts of a Hollywood stunner chalice are soon to join it in the trash.
I don't have any lfs that is interested in them and I don't really know anyone around me.

My softies go in the trash. I've tried to pass them off occasionally to newbies, but they would also have to contend with possible aiptasia or vermitids.

My closest LFS is 50 miles away and has nothing I want in trade and the better one is farther and I think he would probably pass on invasives.

I struggled to get rid of a free drilled tank recently on CL...had one guy interested that had a LONG criminal record.
