I have two wrasses in quarantine, and I’m searching for a good food for them while in quarantine. I feed them LRS Reef Frenzy in the morning and evening, but I’m unsure of whether that’s enough. I don’t want to deteriorate their water by feeding more, but I don’t want to let them be hungry since they are active fish.

Should I set up an automatic feeder and feed pellets, with a ring to keep the pellets contained?

Do you have any recommendations?

The reef frenzy is good for feeding a reef as the name implies, but the wide range of particle sizes means a lot of food goes to waste in a QT. Depending on the fish I would feed something like mysis or spirulina brine which should get nearly 100% consumed.

You can feed them small amounts several times when you are home. I just put two leopards through QT and although I don’t get home until 6, I fed them almost every 45 min from 6-10 to make up for it.

I use nori sheets placed into a "grazer" that keeps them from breaking apart into the tank. This allows me to mostly remove the uneaten pieces before they have a chance to break down and contribute to ammonia buildup.

Anything that fish will eat.

That’s what I was most curious about. I sold all of my corals to fund equipment purchases, and I had the LRS Reef Frenzy left, so that’s what I’ve been using. I’ll stop for something more appropriate tomorrow.

I feed fish in QT the same stuff they’ll get once in the display - just a lot more frequently. Assuming you’ve ammonia under control, nutrients aren’t a big deal in QT.
