I'm considering upgrading my lights to the Current USA Orbit Pro Led (not the normal Orbit)for my 29 Oceanic biocube I am currently running dual Current Trulumen Pro leds but for what I want .I want to try sps. And I am certain the lights I have these lights are only good for lps and softies. But thats all i've tried so far.

Either that or I just slam more live rock in.

What are your thoughts?
More Live rock or more lighting next?

Temp 77
Calcium 480
KH:11
Salinity 1.025
5 month old reef

Nothing. To bad has died yet except 3 Astrea snails and a clown who jumped a few months back.

All coral frags have survived and improved but grown to much.Which I suspect from low lighting.

I've since made a fish guard for the back chambers.

I feel like I should know all this since i work on others tanks all the time. But mine is just the basics.

The Gobby is like "Darn kids, get off my lawn!"
But yea, more rock and I would look into Kessil lights or maybe Reef Breeder lights both make very good lights that are pretty affordable and great for small tanks

The kessil lights are nice my brother has a160we on his IM Nuvo fusion 20.

I have leds on all my tanks, I would not do leds as my primary light source if I had it to do all over again. All the lfs where I live are putting t5s and even halides back on their sps tanks. Alot of reefers I talk to are disappointed in the long term performance on their tanks after switching to leds. I've seen pictures of awesome tanks that declined after switching from "old school" t5s and halides to exclusively leds. When the budget open up I'm replacing my leds with t5s. A t5/led hybrid would be my choice, if I were in your position ready to buy a new lighting source. I would do t5s and use your current leds as a supplement. BRS does an excellent series on lighting sources and also chose the t5/led combo.

Looks great but I think some more live rock would.give.you more choices for coral placement and more space for beneficial bacteria!

this.
And I love mey SB. Yes the New current is supposed to be pretty good. but the closer you get to the top the mre of a spot loight youl get. the seem to be designed to project down. Im guessing your looking for low profile.

Are you running Chem filtration GFO & nitrate reducer? qurious really.

not all SPS are high light btw. same with softies. I dont think youll be able to do the true high light stuff with those lights.

Yep I changed my mind SPS are nice but Ive decided to stick with LPS and Softies.I got new rock today.

Redid my rockwork once more and added a 3rd led another actinic this one is more purple spectrum than the blue. Its supposed to be the same light but they are very different for some reason
