dang man good catch! There are some nasty things in the ocean huh? The crab I pulled outta my elegance was called a Gall crab. They are horrible little jerksGood thing I caught this little b@stard before he became a problem

Burrowing snail in my favia, somehow this menace surrvived the dip, though he never stood a chance against coral glue
Elegance, that's what it was. I saw the hole and thought the dip would kill it, then it stuck its foot out. Wild colonies are have more hitchhikers than I thought. Also there were two Burrowing clams. Ps, did your elegance recover?dang man good catch! There are some nasty things in the ocean huh? The crab I pulled outta my elegance was called a Gall crab. Why is this a bad thing?Reefers that sell coral for wholesale prices
Maybe not wholesale but I guess it depends who it comes from but this particular person charges what I believe to be ridiculous prices. Why is this a bad thing?
Hey, on this. I’m just starting out with corals and picked up a zoa with a frag plug. First frag I’ve bought. What am I supposed to do with the bit that sticks out the back?Does every coral have to come on a frag plug nowadays?
Depends. What does the zoa look like?Maybe not wholesale but I guess it depends who it comes from but this particular person charges what I believe to be ridiculous prices.
$40 for 2 zoas.
I know many pay more for less but that's ridiculous in my eyes.
Usually that part is used to keep the coral secure in a frag rack, if you have any holes in the rockwork you can stick that in there with some coral glue, If that dosent work you can break it off with coral cutters or bone cutters and glue the disc to the rockwork or sandbedHey, on this. Or even worse, xeniaWhen you have a hawkins echinata the size a softball and people are like “ ohhh what’s that green grass stuff” GSP.
This is partly why I’m aiming low. GSP, Xenia, Asterina stars, with a few bold steps into Zoas. When you have a hawkins echinata the size a softball and people are like “ ohhh what’s that green grass stuff” GSP.
Prices as of lateIf you've had the opportunity to keep a marine aquarium you know that it can bring some of the greatest joy and happiness of your life, but it has its moments when it's frustrating, devastating, or just is alot more challenging than what you signed up for. Whether it be a tank crash, a loss of your favorite fish, or just something that's downright annoying and frustirating like an aptasia or a hair algae and cyanno outbreak. That being said, what is something that you absolutely despise about reefkeeping, I'll go first.
1: vermited worms or burrowing clams, the wild favia I just picked up is infested with them and they're very hard to kill
2: tank crashes. Self explanatory
3: cyanno. also Self explanatory
4: GFO. Great at removing phosphates but covers anything in a 3 foot radius with GFO powder, a pain to clean up
5: water changes with a smaller RODI filter, it takes 8 hours
What's your list?
Peppermint shrimpAiptasia. Seems everyone is dealing with them these days. There is no ridding your system of them once you have them. I've tried it all and the only reliable thing that's worked for me is a Kleins butterfly to keep the visible ones down.
