What do you have you a80 set on for intensity, color, duration, and distance from water line? I'm trying to find a happy place for my nano aquarium.

This is a par reading at 12 in from from the light. As you can see, it is not very powerful at all. You pretty much can’t give anything too much light with it.
Its a 15W light, not really adequate for 7G. You need at least 3W for SPS, and you dont want to run on 100% , so aim for a light with 5x tank volume. For 7 G tank, a160 is bestThanks for the link. I have had it at 50% so I guess I’ll crank it up a little.

I happen to have one of those, but honestly it seems way too strong. I'm not using a par meter or anything though. Just watching the "behavior" of the coral, if I increase above 60% on the a80 the polyps will retract. I will try out the a160 and report back. What exactly is the a80 used for then? Thought it would be adequate for something 10 gallons or under.
Got ya! makes sense! So if just keeping softies / LPS should I run it around 70-80% on a 12 hour period about 6" above the water line?If you're just keeping softies or lps corals the a80 should be fine. If you start venturing into sps you'll want to break out the a160
sounds good. if you find that you're having algae issues, shorten it to 10 hoursGot ya! makes sense! So if just keeping softies / LPS should I run it around 70-80% on a 12 hour period about 6" above the water line?
