What do you think about my sump "design" ?

This is for my 60 gallons tank , sump measurements are (60*38*35) , please share your thoughts and if someone can tell me the minimum space needed for both Sump and skimmer ?

As long as the pump and skimmer will fit, you will be ok. Assuming that they are both going in the sump.

I would change the output bubble trap so you are going under then over. Your design will actually send more bubbles to your DT.

Are you sure about that? If you go under then over and the water has to fall several inches because the pump has made the level lower, you will get bubbles. I think the original design was the way to go. By going over first you hold the bubbles in the trap, as it was intended to do.

To the OP, the water level in the 2nd bubble trap will be at the level of the pump chamber, not the level of the middle section (I assume it's a fuge?).

The way I see it, the bubbles fall over the trap. Any bubbles created are at the bottom of the trap and immediately get sucked into the return pump. With the other way, any bubbles first have to go down and then up and over. I see that there could be some bubbles from that last waterfall, but I don't think as many will make it down to the return pump as with the last trap exiting under water.

I like running a sponge at the end. I Clean it every week when I do a WC. Stops bubbles, cheato, and other stuff from getting to the pump. I plan on replacing it every year, so its a lot cheaper than the filter material in my biggest tank.

I'm with Bob I made a sump to that exact design and I got micro bubbles I added on more baffle before the return to turn the water back up so the bubbles would go back up to the surface and not into my return no bubbles since

Change the Output bubble trap, believe me I made this mistake on my 65 gallon display tank 29 gallon sump with this bubble trap design and the micro bubbles are a pain in the butt. Good luck

for glass sump, it's not that high at all. acrylic would be astronomical

I hope you end up re designing that output bubble trap. I dont see why you just dont finish the sump yourself, I went to lowes bought acrylic sheets and had them cut the sheets the proper dimensions for me. Went to PetCo bought their reef safe silcone and just starting glueing the panels in. For that price you cant beat having a professional do it for you but also a good and easy project for the average DIYer.
