Currently have the Current IC loop led 27watts. It is 24" long. The tank is cycling as we speak.

I plan on keeping softies and LPS. And am worried the current light won't be able to support them.

So I was thinking of going with 2 Kessil A160 tuna blue. Mounted roughly 15" above the tank to cover the area.

Got the go ahead from the Wife. Just not sure I wanna dump $600 if I don't have to.

The current setup was $300.

What do you guys think or maybe what other lights would you recommend?

I think it's fine. As long as you like the colors. I for get the exact specs on that light but I'd run it at full with normal photoperiod. So no I don't think you have to. .

Your suggesting 100% white 100% blue 100% red 100% green for a 12 hour period?
Set the colors to what looks best. Set to full. Lower levels to mix to taste

Note the ratios.

If that is the lensed version of current it should be fine. I did a quick search but double check the specs. There're not too overstated and those par numbers are at full in all channels.

I fact if that's the same light I put a meter on at macna last year it's quite powerful.

Check the specks on the website.

Thats a lot of light regardless of intensity. I would reduce down or you will get a lot of algae growth.

As far as different lights, Have you looked at the AI Prime HDs?

Right now I'm running 100% blue and 50% white, 30% green and 5% red for 10 hours a day

I did look into them and like them quite a bit. But after reading reviews they are pretty mixed. 50/50 good and bad.

And ya don't blast the that long esp that high.

Seems like a good mix and duration
Looks pretty good too. I was thinking of dropping the whites just a little to give it more of a blue look. Down side is I cannot control the color separate from the intensity. So it's color and intensity for each R/G/W/B and how high of each from 0 to 100%

I prefer them over the kessils. Just put a few on a customers tank and like it so much I got one for my nano. I like the App and ease of adjusting. I also like the aluminum mounting arm as oppose to the goosenecks.

The LFS has them on a lot of tanks and I really like the look and ease of control with the app as well. I'll definitely give them another look before anything. I'm guessing 2 for my setup.

Also at the price range you are throwing out a Radion XR30 would look pretty nice on there. Those are my favorite of all the upper end LEDs
Would the xr30 have too much of a wide spread for 30"x12"x12"

It would be fine. You may even be able to squeeze by with a single XR15, I know that ecotech says 24-30" spread coverage but the ends may be slightly shadowed depending on how high it is mounted

Man I wish the xr15s were just a little cheaper. Two of those would be awesome.
