I think it's good...just high enough to prevent salt spray...doesn't take too much light to grow cheato when nutrients are present.

I suggest you restrict the lighted area a bit more. You don't want it shining on the skimmer or pump, just the center area where you are running the refug.

I thought the same thing I have to figure out how to mount it different

Might be able to line the bulkheads and walls with black pvc panel. I'm going to try using the cheap plastic stuff you get at HD. It's not black but it is opaque.

Another possibility is a 12" grow light from an aquaponic store. Suspend it across the refug. For a few extra bucks, you get a good reflector that will greatly narrow the light spread.
