I have a intake refugium basket in my 32g biocube. Just a thought....what if I put my chaeto in a media bag with large enough holes for water circulation and light penetration, but contain chaeto bits and pieces from entering tank. Also to help with ease of maintaining?

Don’t think it will get enough light. I would get a piece of the plastic netting we use for tank screen tops and superglue it to the top piece of the basket to catch smaller stuff.
